About Ben

Ben Harrison Meek is a Manchester-based live event videographer, camera operator, and photographer with over 20 years of experience in the creative industry.

Based in the North West of England, Ben has delivered visual content for clients ranging from grassroots arts organisations to international brands. His work spans live event coverage, music performance, and corporate video, with a strong focus on creating content that feels both cinematic and human.

Live Event Experience

Much of Ben’s recent work centres around live performance, including ongoing collaborations with some of Manchester’s leading orchestras, The Hallé, Manchester Collective, The Northern Film Orchestra, and Manchester Camerata. He specialises in capturing real moments as they unfold, from the pit at a gig to the wings of a concert hall. The aim is always the same, make it look good and keep it honest.

Working With a Crew (or Solo)

Whether shooting solo or as part of a larger team, Ben keeps things efficient and professional. He often takes on light producing roles too, organising shoots, managing logistics, and making sure everything runs smoothly on the day.

Over the years, he’s built a strong network of collaborators, editors, DOPs, sound and lighting specialists, so projects can scale up when needed without dragging in unnecessary faff.

Ben’s work has taken him far beyond the North West, with projects across Europe, Asia, and anywhere a flight and a hire car will get him. He’s no stranger to tight turnarounds and working under pressure.

Education & Mentorship

Alongside production work, Ben teaches at Salford University, lecturing in film and photography within the music industry. He often brings students on to shoots to give them experience and regularly hosts informal networking events to help connect freelancers, producers, and like-minded creatives from across Manchester.

He’s also a strong advocate for equal opportunities in media, with a focus on mentoring and supporting underrepresented voices in the industry.
