Conference & Event Photography – Empower Women in Tech
I’ve been photographing Empower Women in Tech for a number of years now, across both Manchester and London.
It’s been great to follow the team as it’s evolved over time with stronger lineups and supporters including the BBC, Starling Bank, Kraken and Autotrader to name a few of them.
I’ve covered editions at Convene Bishopsgate in London, Convene Manchester and Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
My role within the team is to work alongside their video crew capturing event photography. Keynotes, panels, audience reactions, sponsor stands, breakout groups and details. When shooting I’m always thinking about where and how the images will be used. Socials. Website refreshes. Future event launches.
Beyond the job itself, it’s a cause that genuinely aligns with my own values. Supporting and amplifying underrepresented voices in tech isn’t just good branding, it’s necessary. Being trusted to document that space year after year means a lot.
Here’s a few shots from their Old Trafford event.
Over the years I’ve photographed founders, developers, keynote speakers and major brand representatives across both cities. It’s always a solid team and a properly organised production, which makes the day run smoothly.
A huge moment was having the opportunity to photograph Dame Stephanie Shirley. Capturing someone whose work helped shape modern computing is slightly surreal. You’re framing a shot and then it hits you who you’re actually crouching in front of.

Another highlight I recall was meeting members of GCHQ. I can confirm the joke about their free pens being weapons absolutely does not go down well. Still convinced I was in the first fifty people to say it, so I’ll take that as a small win.
I have delivered highlight selects the same day for socials, with full galleries shortly after. You can find out more about their future events here.
