Dolly Camera Operator & Behind The Scenes – The Hallé x Low Four

A slightly different pace to festival season.

Over the summer I was lucky enough to be asked to work on a collaborative live performance series between the Hallé and Low Four, filmed at Low Four Studios in Manchester.

When I first got into camera operating, there’s not a single part of me that thought I’d end up working with Hallé musicians. After this shoot, the Hallé truck came to collect the timpanis and I got a genuine buzz from climbing in the back of it. Small things.

I was brought in to operate track based dolly as part of a multi camera setup. The main shoot was captured on Blackmagic cameras, and I was operating a Pocket 6K Pro. Shot as live, working to a director over comms, then tightened up in the edit suite.

Big shout out to Dan who always does an amazing job of pulling it together at Low Four!

A massive highlight was shooting Morpeon with Ellen Beth Abdi. You can see it in the edit below.

Alongside operating dolly, I was also capturing behind the scenes photo and video content on a Canon R6. There’s a few of my favourites below.

If you’re producing a live performance film, gallery session or multi camera music shoot and need a UK camera operator comfortable on track dolly who can also handle behind the scenes content, feel free to get in touch.

UK and international.
